Frequently Asked Question

Facials

What is a facial?

A facial helps reduce the appearance of skin concerns. This professional service improves your skin through extractions, hydration, exfoliating dead skin, minimizing fine lines or wrinkles and moisturizing. Some skin concerns that can be addressed with a facial are acne, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, dehydration, melasma, acne scars, rough texture, and anti-aging to name a few.

How do I prepare for a facial?

Exfoliate a few days before the facial, not the day before or the day off. Do not wear makeup to your appointment. Drink a lot of water 24 hours before your appointment, this will hydrate your skin and help make extractions easier.

What should I avoid after a facial?

Avoid putting on makeup for 24 hours. Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. No sweating, avoid gym and/or saunas for 24 hours. Avoid harsh skincare products. Try to stay out of the sun.

How often should I do a facial?

A facial is recommended once a month to stimulate your skin’s cellular turnover and assist with exfoliation, or at  least four times a year, one every time the season changes.

If I have a special event, when should I get a facial done?

You should get a facial done 3 days or more before the event. This will give you time to heal in case of any irritation.

What is an Anti-Aging Facial?

As we get older our skin loses elasticity, appearing saggy with wrinkles and fine lines. Anti-Aging facials help prevent or reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

What is Deep Cleanse Facial?

Deep cleanse facial helps remove any oils, debris and impurities from the skin. This facial focuses on removing blackheads, whiteheads or milia, while also leaving your skin hydrated and glowing. What is a Hydrating Facial?

Hydrating facials help restore the skin barrier when compromised, providing the skin with an extra boost of moisture and hydration, helping the skin heal and repair over time. Hydrating facials are beneficial for dry, flaky, irritated skin.

What is a Dermaplaning Facial?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive deep manual exfoliation. Helps remove dead skin buildup and vellus hairs on the face, allowing increased absorption of topical products, reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, and creates a healthier and more radiant skin. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN.

How often can Dermaplaning be performed?

Can be performed ONLY every 3-4 weeks.

What should I avoid after the procedure?

Avoid exercise and vigorous exfoliation for 24 hours

Does Dermaplaning have any side effects?

Side effects are minimal and temporary if any. Side effects may include redness, dryness and flaking of the skin.

Will the hair on my face grow back thicker and darker?

No, the hair will grow back the same as before. Only hormonal changes or imbalances can cause a person's hair to change color or thickness.

What is a Micro-Needling Facial?

Micro-needling involves the use of tiny needles to create precision micro-perforations where the dermis and epidermis meet. This treatment stimulates collagen, elastin production, skin renewal and repair. Micro-needling reduces fine lines and wrinkles, repairs sun damage, lifts and tightens the skin, improves the appearance of stretch marks and scars, reduces the size of pores, dull skin, rough skin texture, and prevents signs of aging.

  • Active Acne Lesions, Skin Cancer, or any other serious health issues are not candidates for micro-needling.

Does Micro-Needling Hurt?

Depending on the patient’s comfort level, a topical numbing agent may be applied.

Will my Skin be red after Micro-Needling?

Redness may take anywhere from 24 hours to 4 days to go away. Total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and number of overlapping passes.

When will I see the results?

Visible improvements to the treated area begin to appear over 2-3 weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months following treatments as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend having a series of 3-4 treatments at intervals of 3-4 weeks. Scars or deeper wrinkles, can require up to 8 sessions at 6 weeks intervals.

What should I avoid after the procedure?

STAY OUT OF THE SUN. Avoid Sweating. No gym, no sauna, no tanning bed. Avoid any skin care products that have active ingredients (AHAs, Retinol, Vitamin C, BHAs). Avoid the use of makeup after treatment for 24 hours after the treatment.
